Volunteer: Crisis Advocate: Hotline

JOB DESCRIPTION: Represent SafeNest as a member of the crisis advocacy hotline team, providing assistance and support to victims of Domestic Violence. Hotline advocate assists client with shelter screenings and counseling referrals. Volunteers take part in working in a collaborative environment. Volunteers, once fully trained and after completion of their shadowing shift, can work from home.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE

·         Arriving 15 minutes prior to the shift beginning

·         Provide assistance and support to SafeNest clients as

·         Offer assistance & support to victims of Domestic Violence prior to court hearings

·         Discuss safety planning with victims of Domestic Violence

·         Provide resources to victims of Domestic Violence

·         Data Entry

·         Attend Volunteer meetings as scheduled.

·          Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·         Ability to keep all client information confidential

·         A basic understanding of domestic violence and its dynamics

·         Ability to respect and relate to people from various backgrounds (economic, cultural, educational, religious etc.)

·         Strong listening skills

·         Ability to remain calm and focused in a high-stress environment

·         Ability to multitask effectively as needed

·         Must be proficient in speaking, reading & writing English

·         Ability to be prompt, responsible, dependable, organized, and professional

·         Ability to work well with others

·         Ability to communicate concerns as well as receive constructive feedback

·         Access to a personal phone with internet connectivity.


TIME COMMITMENT

·         Designated 4-hour shift

·         3 Shifts per month

SCREENING

Volunteers are expected to complete a screening process, which may include the following:

·         Completion of  SafeNest Volunteer application

·         In-person/Telephonic interview with the SafeNest Volunteer Services Director

·         Passing of the required background check

TRAINING

Volunteers are expected to complete the following prerequisites:

·         Completion of SafeNest’s Domestic Violence Training (approximately 20 hours)

·         Completion of Volunteer Training with Program Supervisor

·         Completion of a minimum of 6 Shadow Training sessions with an established SafeNest Staff

Dust off your boots, grab your cowboy hat, and join us at The Nest for a high-spirited pub and food crawl featuring signature sips, delicious bites, lively entertainment, and plenty of toe-tapping fun. Whether you're two-stepping between stops or just raising a glass with friends, every moment supports SafeNest’s mission to end domestic and sexual violence. Come for the fun, stay for the impact—because together, hope starts here.


Guest ages 21+ are welcome to attend.


All cowgirls and cowboys are free to come dressed in their favorite western attire and bring their Wild West spirit for a night to remember!


Proceeds from this event directly support SafeNest programs, including Camp HOPE, a transformative week-long summer camp for children ages 7–17 who have been impacted by domestic violence. It will be a night filled with western flair, great company, and meaningful impact, all in support of our incredible kiddos.

Volunteer Roles Needed: 

1. Guest Check-In

- Welcome arriving guests, verify registrations, distribute badges and other materials and more. Must stay in designated zones. Will ensure guests do not leave with alcohol. 

2. Roamer

- Circulate throughout the venue to assist guests, answer questions, monitor crowd flow, and relay real-time updates to the event team.

3. Vendor Concierge

- Serve as a point of contact for vendors — Address needs, and ensure vendors have everything required to operate smoothly.

4. Event Maintenance

- Keep the venue clean, organized, and safe throughout the event — manage trash, reset spaces, handle spills, and address any facility issues as they arise.

5. Raffle Sales

- Engage guests throughout the event to promote and sell raffle tickets, accurately handle cash and digital transactions, track ticket inventory, and support the drawing process at close of sales.
